The long wait is over: the new Kymco People S have arrived and the family is expanding.

More modern in terms of lines and equipment, more ecological thanks to the latest generation G5 Eco engines, and at decidedly competitive prices, they present themselves to dominate the top of the high wheel segment.

Handling, unmistakable lines and an incredible equipment/price ratio are the ingredients of the recipe that in almost twenty years on the market has made Kymco People great.

The family of scooters born in 1999 has reached dizzying numbers: around 500,000 units have been sold in recent years. It is undoubtedly the top seller of the House.

A steadily growing success, which now goes to mark another point in Kymco's favor with the new People S.

Born in 2005, the S series is now in its second generation. And it does it big, with an even more attractive design and practicality to be tested on the road.

Agile and light, People S is available in the two displacements 125cc and 150cc.

DESIGN

It is modern in every respect.

Starting with the new G5 Eco engine: increasingly ecological, it guarantees even lower consumption.

Its natural habitat is the city.

Between traffic lights and in urban traffic People S manages to give its best and satisfy all the needs of contemporary mobility, in the name of comfort and without sacrificing pleasure for the eyes.

Because even the design does its part excellently, taking inspiration from the skylines of European capitals: it was designed to recall modern architecture, with a defined and elegant style, and at the same time soft and sinuous. The particular shapes of the high-efficiency Full LED lights make it unmistakable even when darkness falls.

Technology jewels, at a very affordable cost: the quality-price ratio has always been one of the main strengths of every Kymco product and the new People S are no exception.

EQUIPMENT

As standard there is everything you could wish for.

The saddle is low (79 cm from the ground) and comfortable, which is why it is particularly popular with both men and women. It is also large and ergonomic, to best accommodate both the driver and the passenger. In the large compartment below the seat, then, there is not only space to store a full-face helmet, but also another compartment, raised and separate, which houses a USB socket (another USB socket is located on the handlebar cover): it can be used for transporting small-medium sized objects, or, if the bulkhead is removed, for a larger load.

An additional storage compartment has been created in the rear shield, equipped with a door. The luggage rack houses a practical 33-liter top box, supplied as standard in body color, and the People S series also offers a windscreen and handguards as standard.

The incredible load capacity of this high wheel scooter is further increased by the possibility guaranteed by the platform, completely flat, which allows you to comfortably carry objects and bags: they can be attached to the special hook and travel in complete safety, protected from the wide front shield.

Finally, the instrumentation is modern and compact thanks to the clear, fully digital display, while the Full Led lights are characterized by the double double row headlight, now a distinctive element of the latest generation Kymco scooters.

THE ENGINES

People S arrives on the market with an engine that is increasingly careful and respectful of the environment: the G5 engine series is enriched with the new "Eco" evolution, which guarantees very high performance with low fuel consumption. It is an engine that once again highlights Kymco's ability to develop increasingly advanced technologies.

The Taiwanese single-cylinder in this new version sports the features of the bigger Kymco G5 engines. The engineers have carefully studied each internal element in motion (whether rotary or alternating), in order to then optimize its shape and materials. The 4-valve cylinder head ensures optimal filling of the combustion chamber, guaranteeing a high volumetric efficiency. But even more interesting is the type of distribution: the Kymco G5 engine interposes a high-speed ball bearing between the cam and rocker arm, which allows a reduction of friction losses from 20% to 30%.

Furthermore, the forced air cooling guarantees the stability of the operating temperatures and the reduction to a minimum of the dimensions of the engine accessories.

The scooter is available in two versions:

People S 125i ABS: single cylinder 4-stroke 125cc, 4 valves, electronic injection, air-cooled. Max power shaft 8.3 kW (11.3 HP) at 8,500 rpm, max. to the shaft 10.4 Nm at 7,000 rpm.

People S 150i ABS: single-cylinder, 4-stroke 150 cc, four valves, electronic injection, air-cooled. Max power shaft 10.3 kW (14 HP) at 8,500 rpm, max. to the shaft 12.0 Nm at 7,000 rpm.

THE CHASSIS

The design behind the chassis is careful and meticulous.

The new frame in steel tubes and pressed plates is very rigid and efficient. While not giving up on the flat footboard, it has a special reinforcing handkerchief in correspondence with the steering head, ideal for guaranteeing top-level safety and extraordinary driving pleasure, also made possible by the telehydraulic fork which, thanks to an excursion of 95 mm, allows you to tackle manholes, holes and cobbles with decision.

The rear suspension is single-arm swinging, which activates a double adjustable hydraulic shock absorber: the excursion is 86 cm.

The braking system represents another added value of the new People S, with the braking distance further reduced, accompanied by the consequent increase in safety. The 260 mm front disc uses a two-piston caliper, as does the 240 mm rear: the system uses a dual-channel ABS system as standard, both on the 125 and 150 cc versions.

DESIGN

The eye wants its part and the wide range of colors available for the new People S is proof of this. Kymco offers six possibilities: from the timeless anthracite and matte silver "scais" and "zebrù’ ", to the unmistakable" garda "blue, passing through the ultra-modern matte brown" crone "and" malpaga "red.

The extremely competitive prices are another strong point.

People S 125i ABS will be marketed at 2,890 euros while People S 150i ABS will be marketed at 2,990 euros both with top case, windshield and hand guards included.

Ample financing possibilities, thanks to the services of Kymco Financial Services. The entire range benefits from the 5-year Kymco 5PRO unlimited mileage warranty. One year of the Kymco Care policy is included in the price, for the return of the vehicle in case of breakdown.

PEOPLE STORY

The two new scooters enrich a family that boasts an almost twenty-year history behind it. A story that has made the name People synonymous with high-wheel scooters.

The first People debuted on the market in 1999: a classic-style vehicle, destined to pave the way for an ever-growing series of successes. So much so that today, almost twenty years later, about 500,000 People have walked the Italian streets.

In 2005 the look changes, the S series arrives and the 50 and 125 engines are joined by the new 200 and 300 cc.

Five years later, however, the new GTi version was introduced, with higher displacement performance.
